• Prof. Ankit Agarwal, Department of Hydrology has been appointed as the Associate Editor for Journal of Hydrinformatics, IWA Publishing.

2023

• Prof. Ankit Agarwal, Department of Hydrology has been awarded the ‘Institute of Engineers (IEI) Young Engineers Award 2023-24’ in Environmental Engineering discipline. The award consists of a Plaque and a Certificate which will be presented during the inaugural session of the 37th National Convention of Environmental Engineers to be held at Himachal Pradesh (Shimla) during September 15-16, 2023. 

• Prof. Ankit Agarwal, Department of Hydrology, has been awarded the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Travel Grant to participate in the IUGG Union in Berlin from 11-20th July 2023.

• Prof. Ankit Agarwal has been elevated to Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society (FRMetS) by RMets, London, UK for his outstanding contribution to the meteorology and climate field.

• Prof. Ankit Agarwal has been selected as a Young Outstanding Faculty 2023 at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and awarded Institute Research Fellowship for 03 years.

• Prof. Ankit Agarwal has been awarded the 2023 Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award of the European Geoscience Union (EGU).

• Mr. Abinesh G attended WARREDOC International Doctoral Summer School Extremes in Water Science in Palermo, Italy held on 10-14 July 2022. 

• Mr. Abinesh Ganapathy has been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Split-site scholarship (PhD) to continue his research at the University of Birmingham in collaboration with Prof David Hannah (Feb 2022 - Jan 2023).

• Mr. Ravi Kumar Guntu received the best paper award in the Roorkee water conclave (RWC) 2022, organized by IIT Roorkee and NIH Roorkee.

• Ms. Sujata Kulkarni (PhD candidate) has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) through a direct entry channel.

• Mr. Shivam Rawat, Mr. Pankaj Ramji Dhote (PhD Scholar), Ms. Mayuri Ashokarao Gadhawe received AGU Travel Grant 2021.

• Mr Ashish Manoj J received a DAAD master exchange fellowship to visit TU Munich to write his master thesis.

• Mr. Ravi Kumar Guntu (PhD candidate) has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF).

• Mr. Ravi Kumar Guntu (PhD candidate) has been awarded the prestigious DAAD fellowship. He will be visiting GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, Potsdam, Germany, from October 2021 to September 2022 for his PhD work with Professor Bruno Merz as the host.

• Ashish Manoj J (Master Ist year) received the Swiss Research Scholarship 2021. Ashish will be visiting Switzerland to work on the topic of compound extremes. 

• Mr. Ravi Kumar Guntu (PhD Candidate) was awarded the prestigious “INSPIRE Fellowship” from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to pursue doctoral studies.

• Ms. Karisma Yuman (Master Student, III semester) has been awarded DAAD-KOSPIE fellowship to work on her master thesis at TU Munich. 

• Ms. Prachi Singhal received a Co-PREPARE Master Student Exchange Scholarship to visit University of Potsdam to write her master thesis. 

2020

• Mr Ravi Kumar Guntu (PhD candidate) received the conference grant for participation in the 6th IAHR Europe Congress 2020 in Warsaw, Poland under the program “PROM - International Scholarship Exchange of Doctoral Students and Academic Staff”. The conference will be organized by International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), and financed by: The Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland.

2023 

1. Prof. Ankit Agarwal delivered a lecture on the topic titled “Multi-scale approaches in prediction hydro-meteorological extremes and teleconnections” on 07 Jan 2023 at NIT Warangal under the Modelling Hydrological Extremes under Changing Climate at NIT Warangal from January 2, 2023 to January 8, 2023.

2. Prof. Ankit Agarwal has been invited as a keynote speaker in a conference on rural-urban transformation hosted by the University of Agricultural Sciences at GKVK Campus in Bengaluru, India, from February 1 to 3, 2023. He delivered a lecture titled Constructed Wetland Management in Urban Catchments for Mitigating Floods.

3. Prof. Ankit Agarwal has been invited as a panelist at the Workshop of the B-EPICC Climate Capacities Project funded by Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI), Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Center New Delhi, February 9 and 10, 2023.

4. Prof. Ankit Agarwal delivered a lecture on “Climate change implications in the design of Hydro and Thermal power projects” in the training workshop “Hydrological Analysis and Planning for The Hydro and Thermal Power Project” organized by the Department of Hydrology from March 13-17, 2023.

5. Prof. Ankit Agarwal delivered a lecture on “Climate change implications on Eco-hydrological systems“ in the “e-ITEC Training Program on Ecohydrology”organized by the Department of Hydrology from March 27-31, 2023.

6. Prof. Ankit Agarwal  delivered a lecture on Geo & Hydro Science in DAAD PhD Proposal Writing Workshop on 4th April 2023.

7. Prof. Ankit Agarwal was invited to participate in the ‘International Climate Research Conclave 2023 (ICRC 2023)’ being organized jointly by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India at the IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India on 26th and 27th May 2023.

8. Prof. Ankit Agarwal delivered a talk titled "Linking Anomalous High Moisture Transport to Extreme Precipitation " at the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG 2023) on 12th July 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

10. Prof. Ankit Agarwal was invited by the Institute of Engineers during the 37th National Convention of Environmental Engineers to deliver a award lecture on “Forensic Analysis of Multiscale Dynamics in the 2023 Himachal Pradesh Floods” on 27th October 2023 at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

12. Prof. Ankit Agarwal was invited to deliver a keynote lecture on Soft computing in the International Faculty Development Programme on Applications of Numerical Optimization Techniques in Science & Technology, supported by the European Commission under ERASMUS+ credit Mobility Program at the Amity University on 23rd June 2022.

1. Prof. Ankit Agarwal with other partners is organizing the UDAN (Understanding the DynAmics of the Natural Hazards in the Himalayas) Lecture Series. To date, a total of 18 expert lectures have been organized. All the lectures are available on the official YouTube channel of IIT Roorkee.
